Greetings from the United States
February 15, 2011

Dear Dr. Ernestyna Skurjat-Kozek and members of Puls Polonii. News of your fantastic Kozzie Fest and the activities of Australia's Polonia continue to make its way around the world, and here to New York City. Kudos to all of you for the work you do in preserving Polish heritage.

The videos from last year's Kozzie Fest make it clear that you have a lot of fun. With this year's planned workshops of the Paderewski Academy with the Snowy Strings Youth Orchestra of Jindabyne, near Mt Kosciuszko, as well as concerts of the Paderewski Group in Sydney and Canberra, it looks as if this year's festivities, with the Kosciuszko Run focused on the themes of getting fit and running to the highest point of Australia will surpass previous events. Striving for the pinnacle - what an apt analogy to link with General Kosciuszko.

Kosciuszko was a towering figure that stood up for all races and religions, and demanded equal rights for American slaves, European serfs, Jews, women and the indigenous Native-American tribes of the United States. It is a testament to the Australian poeple that they share these virtues by naming your tallest mountain after Kosciuszko. By doing so, Australians are shouting the words of freedom and equality from their highest mountaintop. Bravo!

I wish that I could be there with you, by my committments in New York, Washington and Warsaw have me busy these days. But please be assured that with the presence of Dr. Lidia Filus, she carries the best wishes of all Kosciuszko Foundation members in her heart and she will share them with you.

May you have a great festival, and we wish you "Sto Lat" from New York!

Sincerely,
Alex Storozynski
President & Executive Director of the Kosciuszko Foundation
